Canvas Original - "Calm Down."
This piece was originally painted in 2019. Since then, it's gotten a couple of facelifts (in 2020 and 2021), to achieve this final, golden form. Like a fine wine, it only improves with age - as does its message.
Within this painting's large, unmistakable message, there are many more for you to discover. I was inspired by my own experiences with feeling great frustration at the suggestion that I ought to "calm down." Just because we receive a mental health diagnosis, does not mean that we deserve to be silenced or maligned. As the saying goes, "if you're not outraged, you're not paying attention."
So, this painting is dedicated to all the angry womxn who inspired me to get louder. To all the depressed, anxious, manic, and addicted people who've shown me that I'm not alone with my madness or my sanity.
If I'm crazy, does that mean I'm wrong? It all depends on your perspective.
